We're Number One! |

Well, at least one of us is.... Once again, Matt Eastwood, stellar member of the Bethel Fellowship Teen Bible Quiz team, took top honors at MidAmerica eXtreme (MAX) on April 17, renewing his reign as the best quizzer in the North Central Region. Matt also moved up to second place on the Regional A team, missing first place by only the equivalent of one and a half questions out of 120 (370 to 340). The third-place quizzer only scored 200. The regional teams will compete in the world finals at General Assembly in June (Matt was on the Regional B team last year). Unfortunately, no one else in the Minnesota delegation managed to capture a trophy, although there were several good competitions. |

Teen leaders experience third-world conditions at Global Village |
Two Minnesota teen representatives volunteered to forgo the normal MAX experience and participate in a 36-hour adventure. For a day and a half, Molly Harmel and Jeff Suos, along with twelve other teens from the various districts on the region, lived in tents, ate third-world diets (like a single potato over three meals), bartered for clean water, and carried "babies" (water balloons) that occasionally "died" (popped). They gained a new appreciation for people in underdeveloped countries, who must live in even worse conditions for their whole lives. They shared some of their insights at the final MAX awards ceremony. |
